I love how the older couple gave you a surprisingly affirming response. But I love even more where you land in this post: “That’s how I make my living, but first, let me tell you about my life”. Yes indeed.
I loved reading this! Though my job is maybe more tangible, I am sometimes sad to not be working on "real world problems", and I don't like the idea of our work defining our lives. PS I was just turned on to Richard Scarry somehow? These books are amazing.
yet again, you've captured a shared thought / curiosity with so much clarity and humanness <3 have been thinking about the same topic lately, and glad to know i'm not alone
oyyy I also cannot relate more to this. Whenever we are asked about work I let Pete lead because..."carpentry". Love and totally feel this piece, Becky <3 Excited to see you soon!
Wonderful reflection Becky! The Good Enough Job is a great concept. It gets you what you need so that you can pursue other things that you're passionate about. Thank you for your writings.
Oh gosh. This resonated so deeply. It felt validating to read your experience of this dual life. Thank you, Becky, for sharing your thoughts, reflections, and beautiful words. <3
"Decoupling where I live from where I work has cracked open entire futures I never thought possible."
Love this concept, so much to consider and think through. Love reading your posts - I hope they coalesce into perhaps a memoir? :)
Love your writing. Please keep the posts coming :)
